To Buy or Not to Buy

To buy or no to buy… THAT should be the the question. But, quite honestly, that question doesn’t really maters to many. They —I can not include myself in this one—just buy.

This is why I have decided to give you my humble opinion of the WHY you should ask yourself this question before any purchase you make. And perhaps, help you stop those compulsive purchases.

First of all, you have to know the difference between WANT and NEED. I don’t think we need to define each. AM I RIGHT? Ok, these are the steps before I make any purchase. I hope they make sense to you.

Comprarlo ó No Comprarlo!

Ask Yourself

  • Did you absolutely fell in love with the piece as soon as you saw it? If you can give a straight YES! That’s a good sign, BRAVO!
  • Does that piece fit with your personal Style?
  • Take a look at the composition of the garment, do you feel comfortable wearing those fibers? If so, Good!
  • Are you allergic to any of those fibers? Believe it or not, many people is allergic to synthetic fibers even some people to natural fibers.
  • Do you think the price you are going to pay is fair? Taking in consideration the quality of the product, material, origin. You may want to read THIS BLOG POST to know a little bit more about this matter.
  • Do you see yourself wearing that garment for a long time?
  • Do you thing you can take advantage of that piece, mix and match with things you already have?
  • I personally try to know more about the brand…And I ask myself. Does the values of the brand align with mine?
  • Last but certainly not least… DO I NEED IT? or DO I WANT IT?

I think I’m going to leave it until that point. Honestly I take many more 🙊

I read this from No Side Bar and I thought it was important to share it. I felt very identified with this 👇🏻 Anyway, I would love to hear (read) your comments, please let me know your thoughts.

Appreciate what you already have.

One reason we break down and buy more stuff is that we don’t really appreciate what we already have. When I find myself considering a new purchase, I ask myself, “Do I already have something that will fulfill the purpose?” If the answer is yes, I then ask, “Why do I need another thing to fulfill the same purpose?” Most of the time, I cannot find a valid reason. So instead of buying something new, I focus on the item I already have. This allows me to appreciate that item more.

Pregúntate a ti mismo
